2020 - A Year Review

To start this post I was thinking back, trying really hard to even remember the word I chose for 2020. I honestly didn’t even remember. Three months into the year we started seeing the affects of a pandemic and it seemed like all we could do was just try to survive… how were we supposed to thrive? It’s pretty ironic that the word I chose was “simplify”- which (like it or not) I was forced to do. Slowing down isn’t a terrible thing though.

In the beginning, things were quite the opposite - chaotic some might say. From all the uncertainty, rescheduling, turning one wedding day into two, I was trying to navigate this craziness with brides as well as myself. Many small businesses died in 2020, and many are still hurting. I am thankful and blessed that I still continued to run my business through the pandemic. I was able to serve 14 couples, a few of which I get to celebrate with a second time around this year.

With the new year, I’m hopeful (as a lot of people are) that things will calm down, even out, and get back to a little bit of normalcy. I’ve decided that my 2021 word of the year is Align(ment). I read a post from @aimtodesign_ that said “Root your truth in who you are. Find alignment in your authentic self and lean into how you truly feel. Make decisions for you this year.”

I’ll be spending this year really aligning my business with my “why”. I became a photographer because it was always a dream of mine, and one day I just jumped in head first, and never looked back. Now its time to make my business work for me, align my values (like spending more quality time with my family) and creating deep, meaningful connections with my clients and my colleagues.

I’d love to go on the wedding planning journey with you. If you want to connect - fill out my contact form on my home page. I’m taking on more 2021 weddings and VERY limited dates in 2022.
