Flashback to fall 2013. She was the pink-haired cheerleader for the Blue Hill Bobcats and he was the farm boy studying in the city. They met and connected and are now planning a wedding for October 10th, 2020 at Prairie Loft in Hastings, Nebraska.
Lexington is a Nebraska girl, born and raised. Gage grew up on a farm in Northwest Kansas, but spent half of his days in Lexington's small town. His mother lived there for most of Gage's life. These two grew up a few blocks from each other most of their lives, but neither of them knew it.
their love story
The initial meeting took place in the band room of her high school during a gathering of friends. Lexington remembers her heart dropping the first time she saw him. They had an instant unspoken connection and couldn't take their eyes off each other during the football game she was cheering at. He recalls walking her to her car after the game. A week later he messages her on Facebook "I remember messaging back and forth with her being absolutely giddy, everything was just so perfect". and she said "this is it, I'm done". For a 16 year old who had never dated before she was ready to jump right in with him."
When Christmas rolled around, Gage brought her down to the family farm to meet the rest of his family. He recalls "Lex was the only girl Grandma ever approved of". They cooked dinner together and she wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty "Being with his family felt like the most natural thing”.
What happens in Vegas.....
On May 13th, 2018 the couple took a vacation to Las Vegas with Gage's mother and stepdad. It was Lexington's 21st birthday. They had dinner reservations at a restaurant called Mastro's. After dinner, Jen took Lex to the bathroom for a distraction. Gage had created a framed heart with the lyrics to their song "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran.
She recalls "when we got back from the bathroom I saw the gift at my spot, my heart was already racing" He had the words, Lexington, will you marry me, covered at the bottom of the lyrics. Neither of them could speak as they were both crying tears of joy. Gage says he had so many things he wanted to say to her, about how much she meant to him, but at that moment he was so overwhelmed he could barely speak. He managed to whisper "Will you marry me?"
