Should You Do a First Look?

Short answer: YES!

Long answer: here are my top 5 reasons you should opt for a first look on your wedding day!

  1. The first look is private moment with just the two of you. - Who calms your nerves better than anyone else? You will probably say the person you’re going to marry. I am partial to first looks because they are a moment of genuine emotion and anticipation. If your fiance isn’t a fan of big crowds, or showing emotion in front of a bunch of acquaintances, this might hinder him from pouring out all his real emotions from seeing you for the first time.

  2. It doesn’t feel like “crunch time” when its time to do family formals and bridal party pictures. - Consider the time it takes for formal photos - all your special moments packed into a short amount of time between the ceremony ending and the official reception beginning. Ideally all of these photos would be done in 2 hours. That doesn’t leave much time for a fun stop at a bar or your favorite ice cream shop with your bridal party. When the formal photos are done before the ceremony, the time after is when the party starts! This also means shorter wait time for guests after the ceremony, and you could even take part in your cocktail hour

  3. More time with your significant other on YOUR wedding day! - On a day all about you and your love, wouldn’t you want to spend as much time with your future spouse as possible? Just think, most ceremonies don’t start until 4 or so, that’s your whole day apart.

  4. You will look your best early in the day with fresh makeup and hair! - Usually the first look takes place right after you’re all prepped for the day. Your fiancé will be the first to see you all done up (hello, flawless)!!

  5. Worried a first look might take away the special moment of you walking down the aisle? NO WAY! I’ve had grooms cry both times. I promise you, nothing will take away from that moment that he sees you come down the aisle.
